Home Remedies for Treating Dogs with Warts

Warts arise due to a viral infection in dogs. They usually disappear on their own, without requiring any medical attention, as the dog’s immune system works against them. Sometimes, they may not go away so easily and pose a problem to the canine. They may cause irritation and discomfort in areas such as the eyes and mouth. In such cases, you may try home remedies to get rid of warts in dogs.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apply a few drops of this carefully on top of the wart with a dropper and wipe the excess that spreads with a cotton cloth. Initially, applying Apple cider vinegar may not cause any problem, but as you do this regularly, the top layer starts to dry and fall off. This may start to sting as it reaches the root. Continuing to apply this, causes the wart to come off completely from the root.

Basil

This herb is known to be an excellent remedy for treating dog warts. Make a paste of a few basil leaves and apply it to the warts regularly, till you see improvement.

Vitamin E

You may open a capsule of Vitamin E carefully with a clean knife and apply it on the warts several times in a day for a few weeks to see the result.

Castor oil

Castor oil helps in softening the warts and reducing irritation. This helps the dog from scratching it. You can apply castor oil regularly, as required on the wart till it disappears.

Aloe Vera

This plant’s antibiotic property helps in the quicker removal of warts. Cut a leaf and apply the gel which is inside on the warts. This makes the warts dry and they start to fall off.

Banana peel

Banana peel is known to be effective in removing warts, as it contains many enzymes with curing properties. Apply the white side of the banana peel on the warts and rub it regularly, till you see improvement.

Honey

Honey is known for its antiviral properties. Applying it on the warts, helps in drying them up and killing the infected cell growth. You may also give honey to your dog, to boost its immunity and fight the virus.

Garlic

Garlic is well known for fighting against viruses and hence it is considered as an effective remedy for treating warts in dogs. Apply crushed cloves of garlic to the warts every day, till they vanish.
